Netflix now working on DroidX / Droid2 download apk

If you have been receiving the message to update your netflix APK try this LATEST VERSION

NOW WORKING ON ANY ANDROID DEVICE! Download the new version of Netflix that does not require root. NETFLIX APK this should work on all android devices all versions froyo and later. The way it works is it skips the device check!

You may have seen the news on DroidLife yesterday… here is the apk i can verify that it works on the DX but only if you are running .595

Droid Life Article: Weren’t happy with news that Netflix was old made available to a handful of devices?  What if I were to tell you that it also works on the DROIDX running Gingerbread?  Download it below.  And I have a feeling that it’ll work on the DROID2 as well, but cannot test it at this time.  Feel free to let us know in the comments though!

Download:  Netflix.apk

*Note 1 – My DX is running Gingerbread. (must be 4.5.595 leak)

*Note 2 – Did not work on my Thunderbolt, XOOM or Samsung Tab 10.1.

*Note 3 – We’re hearing that it definitely works on the DROID2 running Gingerbread, plus the original DROID running a variety of ROMs.

Via:  XDA

The Other way to get it to work without being on .595 update..(this also works on roms and  phones other than DroidX Droid2)

From android police:
When he covered the official release of the Netflix app earlier today, Cameron said, “If your device didn’t make the cut, though, I wouldn’t sweat it too hard – you know how resourceful the Android community can be.” Well, the app hasn’t even been out for a day yet, and already there’s a way to get it running on non-supported devices. The only caveat is that you must be rooted. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to work on the Thunderbolt.
So how’s it done? Well, the instructions are actually fairly straightforward, and come courtesy of tipster/redditor natemckn:
Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup! (I accidentally deleted by build.prop file and bootlooped my phone)
Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor)
In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes
Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)
Open & edit /system/build.prop
Change the following lines to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
Reboot the phone
Install the netflix apk (if you haven’t already)
As always, you shouldn’t take the dive if you don’t know what your doing. If it bricks your phone or eats your cat, it’s not our fault, Nate’s fault, or anyone else’s fault.
Aside from Nate’s Optimus V, we have no confirmation of this working on other devices as of yet (although it should work for most). If you give this a shot, let us know if it does/doesn’t work for you, and don’t forget to include your device and ROM!

  1. I’m on gb 5.9.5 deodexed.
if / when i decide to sbf to stock 340 is there a special
process, or just sbf to 340

  2. Running stock. 595 just installed netflix…works like a dream. Worth the update just to have this app. Thx guys

  3. If you don’t have GB. You can install a modifed XDA file. I installed “netflix-devicecheck-disabled.apk” and it works fine on Apex 1.4.1 with froyo. Plus you don’t have to modify the build.prop which is always better. 🙂

  5. I could have sworn I saw something on your site about viewing netflix in hdmi, but I cant seem to find it again. This would really be handy. Thankyou

  6. I get this message. New version of application is found, you must upgrade to be able to use application im on 595 gingerbread please help

  7. Hey so I downloaded netflix onto my rooted .596 deodexed and to my girlfriends stock .596. On my phone when i stream, my temperature is around 95 degrees F. My girlfriends’s phone, on the other hand, is only around 80-85 degrees watching the same tv show. Both were also on the same wifi connection. Is there something wrong with my phone’s battery or something?

  8. Works on my HTC EVO unrooted. Click “NETFLIX APK” link. Video quality could be a bit better though. Thanks!!

  9. I tried both APK files and neither one of them worked. I was trying to install the app on the Acer Iconia tablet. With the Netflix APK, I was able to install the app and the app ran, but when I tried to play a movie, I got an error message saying my device was not supported. So I re started the app and tried to update the file, but it said that that reqested file was not found. So I uninstalled that APK and installed the XDA PDK. That one didn`t work at all. The Acer tablet runs the android version 3.0.1. I know, you said that it has to run version 4.5.595, but I had to try. 😦 Any ideas? I really would like to get this to work on my tablet..

  10. the apk file installed and the application launched but NONE of the videos are playing because they’re saying that an update is found, but i cant find the update to download 😦 I have a mytouch 4g.
